Vietnam domestic train tickets price to be reduced in low season

The Vietnam Railways Corporation will offer a 10-15% discount on rail fares of Thong Nhat trains (served Hanoi - HCMC route) in the low season from September 5 to December 31, 2012.

Starting early next month, passengers can expect to pay about VND 1.7 million (US$81) for a soft sleeper ticket with air conditioning on SE3/4. This is a reduction of 13% from current price which is almost VND 2 million (US$96).

For the same features on TN1/2 train, passengers just have to pay approximately VND 1.3 million (US$61), a 10% decrease from current price of about VND 1.4 million (US$66).

Regular prices will go back into effect at the start of the next year.

Other fees and costs including extra seat fares, freight rates, passenger insurance, train fares for beneficiaries and other service costs in the low season will also be reduced under the current regulations.
