Emirates line-up Real Madrid shirt sponsorship deal
Update: 17:51, Wednesday, Sep 05,2012 (GMT+7)
Emirates Airlines is in talks to replace Austrian betting firm bwin as Real Madrid's main shirt sponsor from 2013-2014 football season.

bwin have been Madrid's title sponsor since 2007 replacing BenQ Siemens, and renewed their contract two years later in a deal believed to have been worth in excess of €20million per year. Emirates has set their sights on becoming the club's main shirt sponsor as Madrid's existing deal with bwin is due to expire at the end of the 2012-13 season.

The new deal would represent the fourth biggest shirt sponsorship deal in history behind only Manchester United's link-up with the AOL-DHL (€33m); Barcelona with Qatar Foundation (€30.5m) and Bayern Munich's Deutsche Telekom partnership (€29m). Madrid would become the sixth team in European football to be emblazoned with the Fly Emirates logo after Arsenal, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Hamburg and Olympiacos.

Emirates is the largest airline of the United Arab Emirates with a fleet of over 140 aircraft and operate 2,400 flights per week on average.

The airline also suggested Real to rename their stadium as Fly Emirates Santiago Bernabeu in exchange for €53 million per year. Although the offer was extremely attractive, Los Blancos leaders have had to rejected since Madrid fans see their home base sacred more than just a stadium.
